Peter Osnos writes about this season’s surprise best seller, The New York Times, The Complete Front Pages, 1851 to 2008. “The New York Times accomplishes so much, in so many ways, every day, that on scale alone, its role as a chronicler is indispensable.” Peter points out that it’s easy to trash “the media” and find articles in the New York Times to disagree with, but in fact the Times is comprised primarily of hugely talented people doing their best to deliver the news.
