We Be Web Ads

Websites are lifting restrictions in advertising, allowing bigger, more intrusive ads that take up more space on the page and pre-roll clips that had been avoided for fear of annoying their readers. The Wall Street Journal has begun selling an ad that rolls down to cover half the screen, the Wall Street Journal admits in this article. For the record, The Rumpus will never do that (not that anyone’s asking us to). Our motto is The Rumpus.net: The Literary Equivalent of Stolen Wi-Fi. Our other motto is The Reader Comes First. Always. Believe it baby, believe it.
