Only one correction: I didn’t start out as “Matt Bernstein” at all — in fact, all three of my names are chosen (not given, that is) — I did start out with some Jewish last name, and I didn’t want to change a name obviously Jewish to one with no apparent Jewishness, because often people don’t read me as Jewish at all (assimilation, darling), so I chose one that may or may not have been the name of many of my ancestors…
