This is the entire 125 page transcript (pdf download) of the conference, (5 days, 9 hours a day) between George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, and their chosen writer, Lawrence Kasdan, to discuss and flesh out the film Lucas and Spielberg had decided to make, Raiders of the Lost Ark. What’s interesting about this is not that it’s about Raiders of the Lost Ark but rather what it says about the creative process. Mystery Man, a screenwriting blog, fully disects the story conference into 10 screenwriting lessons, for example, “Before they ever considered the plot, they figured out who and what their hero-protagonist is and how he’d be similar and different from other heroes in cinema.”
