I am not an author just a person that likes particular books. In particular I wanted to suggest Adrift in a Vanishing City by Vincent Czyz. The reason I suggest it is because one needs a walking knowledge of classical myth, fable, & folklore to appreciate it. As an early-retired newspaper writer/editor, I have hated watching what has happened as book sections became book pages, which became a book column, which became nothing except perhaps the annual "hottest beach books" story. Now my daily newspaper delivery is being discontinued because, at 60 miles from the newspaper plant, I'm deemed too far away to matter. I have learned more about books from the often-thoughtful and thorough reviews I see at Amazon and at my favorite book-swapping site, www.bookins.com, than I do from any traditional mainstream media. Thank goodness there are still readers willing to share their opinions! Congratulations and thank you for launching this site.
