Charles! I assure you that you can get lost in Little Book of Days. Each time I go back (to find a certain quote, to remember a certain passage) I always end up reading the whole damn thing all over again. The narrator's voice just pulls you right in.

As for the math: Yes. It's bad for you. If the good lord had wanted us to count to such ridiculously large numbers, he would have given us more fingers.

Beautiful review!

Question: I'm afraid that, being someone who worships at the altar of getting-lost-in-a-narrative, I won't be able to love this book. Is this a book for those who love feeling that their day is full of annoyances and impediments to getting back to the hijinks and dilemmas experienced by the characters in a given book?

Also, hearing that we have millions of minutes to go through made me stop and do all the math in my head. Indeed, most of us do live for millions of minutes. Over 40 million in the average case. Is math bad for you?

Splendid review! Interesting discussion of genre, wonderful interweaving of Casper's daily observations with analysis of the mind that put them all into one small book.

As always, Onnesha Roychoudhuri's insights are brilliant.
