Just a reminder that we here at The Rumpus are posting a poem a day for National Poetry Month, so enjoy some never before published work by some up-and-coming poets.

Another practice that’s grown out of National Poetry Month is the proliferation of poem-a-day challenges for poets. Reb Livingston is keeping track of a number of participants, and Poetic Asides is running a contest this month.

Tayari Jones has some really good advice for young poets with the first book contest blues.

A Poetic Matter has the first installment of what promises to be an interesting series on “four modes of poetry.”

And finally, a conversation between Micah Mattix and me. Mattix began with a piece in The New Ledger on what he sees as the problems with contemporary poetry–too much money and philosophical materialism. I responded here. Ron Silliman linked to both of us, which meant that Mattix noticed me and responded. I have rebutted a second time. I think it’s been instructive.
