what a great interview. she’s right on about the difference between corporate America and certain sectors of the sex industry. i’m in the corporate world now and i feel so disgusting compared to when i worked in the sex/fetish industry and had much more integrity.

Brilliant. We need more articles like this, normalizing work that is universally considered a last resort for women with no resources. Americans are provincial: only sex, and violence, are real and authentic!

I know Miss Jackson personally. She is an amazingly complicated and insightful women.I have never met anyone like her. She exudes sensuality and intellegence and brings class to the sex industry. I am very lucky to have known her.

Your best piece yet. In a well written article, you don’t even notice the writing. That’s the case here. Laura Jackson seems like a woman at peace with herself. She doesn’t try to rationalize what she does, but she also doesn’t she feel the need to apologize for her profession either. I never considered the impact of the recession on the sex industry. Hopefully, this is the first of several articles on the topic.
