The UK-based band Marillion has also done fan-funded albums a few times over the past 10 years to excellent results, which is something that Jill Sobule has mentioned in a different online interview. There are probably other musicians doing this too. Isn’t there a way for self-reliant artists such as these to combine their efforts together (and fanbases too) by networking with one another?

With the increased media attention on Jill, I was looking forward to mainstream articles about her. Unfortunately, the recent stories have been disappointing (at least to me): sloppy, lacking in any insight or asking the same five flat-footed questions. The Rumpus article by Stephen Elliott is everything an interview should be — bright, funny and compelling.
