As almost anyone who’s lived down here can testify, the music scene is, well, uneven at best, unless you enjoy seeing bands that put out iffy music twenty years ago and are still touring to pay off their original record deals. But there are some times when there’s a truly unique opportunity–Septeto Nacional, which last appeared in the states at the 1933 World’s Fair in Chicago, is playing at Hoy Como Ayer tonight. It’s a small venue, but the mojitos are out of this world.

Thanks to Moodvane, I learned that Zombies Organize! is playing at Dada in Delray Beach tonight. Check out a sample of their music here.

The Miami Short Film Festival (warning: link opens with music playing) wraps up this weekend, with shows this evening and tomorrow.

And finally, the Sixth Annual Organic Hip Hop Artist Showcase drops tonight in Liberty City at the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center.
