It was “truer” than any biography I have read of her. Beautifully written. I don’t recall reading a “bad” review, but I might have been looking elsewhere. People get down on Oates, but it’s usually just harping on her being so prolific. I haven’t seen anything that disses her writing. Anyway, this is one of her best books since _Them_. I loved it, and I hated having to give it back to the library.

I think you gave me the push I needed to actually read this one–I’ll make it my next, whenever I’m done with the new Richard Bausch. A friend of mine recommended Blonde pretty strongly, but the book is so long, and the bad reviews so many and vehement, I was afraid.

oh i LOVED that book when i read it a couple years ago. it’s huge but went by so fast!!
