Thank Ryan! I really appreciate it! This was the first of my writing for the Rumpus, although I've got more in works (I hope). It's wonderful to hear such nice feedback - I'm totally flattered.

Wow. I often forgo reading reviews, even of authors I adore (like Nick Flynn), simply because I expect the standard dry recounting of narrative and empty analysis of technique and style. I really enjoyed this one, Kailyn. A seamless welding of review and essay. I wish the NYTimes would take a cue from this.

I got a copy. Thumbs up from me. If an old ADD-rattled coot like me can pick it up and read it cover to cover, its worth $24.95.

I saw Flynn read a few years ago and have been meaning to pick up something of his ever since -- thanks for reminding me through this excellent piece.

(Pete, I got the impression the professor mentioned above is actually quite old. If he weren't, wouldn't he have sent the book to Kailyn electronically?)

This is a really fine appreciate. For the record, though, when Kailyn says "Old professor" I think she's really just saying that this person is not her professor any longer, not that he's actually that old.
