Tuesday 4/3: The Center for the Art of Translation hosts award winning translators Jay Rubin and Philip Gabriel as they discuss their experience in working together on Haruki Murakami’s 1Q84. Free, 12:30pm.
Wednesday 4/4: Scott Crow reads from his memoir of several years of collective living in New Orleans post-Hurricane Katrina, Black Flags and Windmills: Hope, Anarchy, and the Common Ground Collective. Free, 7pm Modern Times Books.
Friday 4/6: The Uptown celebrates first Fridays with a free show featuring Religious Girls, Mister Loveless, B. Hamilton, and French Cassettes. Free, 9pm, The Uptown.
Saturday 4/7: San Francisco native Jen McConnel reads from her short story release, Welcome, Anybody. McConnel’s works have been described as “both riveting and haunting…will remind you of Carver’s stories, but the territory McConnell has staked out is unquestionably her own.” Free, 7pm, Green Apple.
Sunday 4/8: Bunnies and chocolate. The Hella Gay Comedy Show takes the stage at 8pm. Free, 5o Mason.
