My wife birthed two little girls at a Birth Center, with midwives, who were also incredibly calm, fearsomely competent (I called them the Jedi council), but never alarmist. Why was the doctor going on about the “meconium situation” – super freaking common, by the way – while your girlfriend is trying to push, adding to her stress? It’s not as if she was going to stop pushing and try again later. Sounds like typical hospital “birth is super-dangerous everything could go wrong and usually does” talk, which for a healthy mom and babe isn’t really helpful or necessary.

Thank you for sharing this moment with complete strangers. So good. Congratulations.
