Sometimes a Great Notion captures the inner spirit of Oregon culture perfectly. Kesey in the ONLY one I know who has been able to do this. For this reason his original musings and writings-his entire collection-should be here at our most pretigious educational facility, the University of Oregon.

Jay Boss Rubin is himself a shimmering example of this Oregon spirit. His life expereinces stand out as a series of steps in his own peculiar dance of seeking truth and beauty. His writing has it's roots in this as does Kesey's. Both writers, in word and deed, show the world the very best Oregon has to offer.

Thank you for writing this, Jay. We've already received an inquiry regarding your essay. I wanted to point out one thing I'm hoping you'll be able to correct. Currently, the UO does NOT have first right of refusal. We are still in negotiations with the family to formalize this agreement. It has been wonderful working with them as we progress towards achieving our common goal of preserving Ken's legacy.
