The next Letter In The Mail: Steve Almond
The next Letter In The Mail is from Steve Almond. Steve Almond is the author of eight books, including Letters from People Who Hate Me and the best-selling Candyfreak.
Steve does a lot of radio. Here’s Steve on NPR Morning Edition talking about Candyfreak. Here is he is on WTF with Marc Maron. And here he is on Rumpus Radio (we’re going to do more of these, promise).
Steve has been a part of The Rumpus since the beginning. He was the original Sugar. Steve Almond deconstructing Toto. Here’s Steve’s website. You can order his new collection of stories, “God Bless America,” here.

Love Marc Maron, love Mr. Almond, and that interview (WTF) was what got me off the social-media gluebag and back into reading and writing modern fiction again, including all of SA’s anthologies. Two questions – I subscribed to Letters in the Mail in Mr. Almonds month, and so far, nothing heard- should I hope for the future? And secondly, I’d like to gift a month of Letters – it would be great if you could tell me a way to make that happen. Best. I’m out before I use any more adverbs.

I just found Steve’s letter the other day sitting under a pile of newspapers, unopened junk mail and bank statements. After a particularly heinous week at work it was such a treat…he had me at comrades!
