Monday 8/13: The Center for the Art of Translation hosts a rare night with renowned UK-based translator Margaret Jull Costa, whose translations comprise works by Jose Saramago, and Javier Marias. 7pm, $10, Book Club of California.

Tuesday 8/14: Litquake’s Lines & Lyrics Poetry Series comes to Jessie square at 12:30. The SF Theater Pub puts on “Measure for Measure” at Cafe Royal. Free, 8pm.

Wednesday 8/15: Ask a Sex Worker presents Porn Panel, inviting all attendees to bring their pressing sex-work related questions to industry veterans. Free, 7:30pm Feelmore.

Thursday 8/16: James W. Russell discusses his book Escape from Texas: A Novel of Slavery and the Texas War of Independence, “A tantalizing, compelling, and learned look into an under-examined period of history that bridges the experiences of African-Americans, Mexicans, Afro-Mexicans, Native-Americans, and Anglo-Americans alike,” during the years leading up to the Mexican-American war. Free, 7pm Modern Times Books.

Friday 8/17: The SF Film Society screens Love in the City, directed by six legendary Italian filmmakers, including Michelangelo Antonioni and Federico Fellini. 4 screenings.

Saturday 8/18: The annual Alamo Square Flea Market takes place all day, as does San Jose Pride and Pedalfest 2012.

Sunday 8/19: Bird and Beckett Books features Steven Kopel and Marvin R. Hiemstra, reading humorous works from Picnic Poetry, and a Poet Wrangler: Droll Poems. Free, 2:30, followed by Which Way West? Concert Series.
