Wow. What a lovely piece of writing. For so many years, Springsteen's music resonated to my core, tapping into something that's no longer there. I am grateful for both.

You'll listen to it again, although I suspect you know that...I discovered the music of Eva Cassidy while driving back and forth from Southwest Missouri to Northwest Ohio to take care of my mother in her last months, and Eva's music disappeared after her death. Eight years later I started listening to her again and remembered life in a good way with it. Now I can't get enough of her version of "Kathy's Song."

P.S. - Springsteen is a favorite, too.

This is lovely, and I'm so sorry for your loss. This is the album that my husband used to indoctrinate me in Springsteen when we first married, thus creating the family rule "It's not a roadtrip until Springsteen comes on the radio." Easier said than done since we moved to to the West Coast so now I cheat and put a CD in the car to make sure we get our dose. No one serenades the open road better.

Thanks for the thought-provoking piece.
