it’s funny, grinderman – palaces of montezuma wasn’t going to make the grinderman 2 release….his wife threatened him with divorce if he didn’t put it on there, so it made it on the record. i told him to thank his wife for me.

he said, ‘really’?

i was like, ‘yeah, that’s one of the best songs on the release.’

@Craig–that is too bad! This is one of the greatest love albums I know. I’m glad he did release it.

In general, I think this is a beautiful love song, but I also love interpreting it on many levels with the idea of an interventionist God. I write about bees, and I made a short film once with this song playing over footage of beekeepers working.

I seem to recall reading an interview with Nick about this album, where he sheepishly called himself out for being over-emotional and over-obvious with his lyrics. I’m sure he said that he regrets releasing it. Still, I agree that it’s a damn fine song and I love the atmosphere of this album.

I’ve been really enjoying Nick Cave Mondays. This song is so dear to me. It was the soundtrack to the fisrt dance at my wedding. I’m pretty sure my husband and I were the only two people there who appreciated how romantic it is.
