Misspellings have really run the gamut in 2012, including but not limited to, but vs. butt, public vs. pubic, and confusing “socialite” with “socialist”.

Best typo I’ve witnessed in my career working for a Bay Area newspaper was the time when a night desk copy editor ran spell check on a front page article about Saddam Hussein and a little too quickly hit the accept key to change Saddam Hussein to “Sadism Hussies”.
