I get the priciple, but than you would have helped out the homeless guy, the fledgling newspaper (print) business and saved yourself a lot of aggravation.

Or worse: people with money decide they’ve had enough with a town where the price of compassion is giving up something THEY LOVE (in this case the daily paper – PS, hope it was the Sun-Times, the Tribune is way overrated!) and Chicago turns into Detroit or Cleveland. And doesn’t it insult the legions of poor people in similar spots who *don’t* resort to thievery? When I visit the Harold Washington main library downtown I see numerous homeless and/or poor people there, reading newspapers, using the computers, etc.
