The Weekly Rumpus

We’ve just launched The Weekly Rumpus! The Weekly Rumpus is free to download to your iPad or iPhone and includes the first issue. A yearly subscription is just $26.

A lot of you, it turns out, don’t have iPads or iPhones. So for our flip-phoners and Androids we’re going to do a PDF that we’ll send to you in an email. You can subscribe to the monthly PDF version here for $4.00, or don’t subscribe and purchase yearly here.

WTF is The Weekly Rumpus? Well, it’s partly stuff you can get on the website. The best/most important articles we published that week. But we’re also going to be publishing original short fiction every week. The stories will be chosen by our new fiction editor (and former books editor) Andrew Foster Altschul and will only be available in our weekly edition. You can submit fiction here.

It’s not for everyone, but there are a lot of people that prefer to read content this way.

In addition to original fiction each week we’ll include a forthcoming Rumpus article we’re excited about but haven’t published yet. Plus, original poetry and a fantasy football column by J. Ryan Stradal.

This is cool for a number of reasons. If you subscribe the magazine downloads to your device so you don’t have to be online to read it. Also, the magazine format is easier for a lot of articles than a website. Easy on the eyes is, I think, the saying.

We’re also going to have themed issues. Like the comics issue, which we already have. The sex issue, the writing issue. Interviews With Filmmakers issue. The Weekly should arrive in your newsstand every Wednesday.

The yearly subscription is way cheaper than the monthly, only $26 compared to $4 a month, so consider that.

But the app is free and includes a short story from Tom Barbash, Lorelei Lee’s letter in the mail, and other cool stuff. The Weekly Rumpus is published in conjunction with our friends at 29th Street Publishing. We love those guys and gals.
