Sunday 4/23: Women & Children First hosts young adult authors Brittany Cavallaro, Jilly Gagnon, and Stephanie Strohm for a panel discussion on complicated relationships in young adult literature. 4 p.m., free.
As always, the Uptown Poetry Slam is going down at The Green Mill. Open mic starts at 7 p.m. followed by the slam itself. $7, 21+.
Thursday 4/27: This month’s Applied Words performance, hosted by the Guild Literary Complex, includes multimedia pieces curated by Ladan Osman, an activist and poet. Several artists from the project will display their work including Amina Ross, A.J. McClenon, Zachary Nicol, and Tavia K. David. Filmfront, 7 p.m., free.
Stephanie Danler will discuss her novel, Sweetbitter—now available in paperback—with WBEZ’s Nerdette Podcast’s Greta Johnsen. Wine and cheese will be provided by Pastoral! Women & Children First, 7:30 p.m., free.
