Saturday 7/8: Sisters in Crime Los Angeles presents LAst Resort. The editors and selected authors will read their stories and discuss the inspiration behind them. Roar Shack presents readings by Marni Goodfriend, Trista Hurley-Waxali, last month’s Live Write winner Jess Cutrone, Laura Warrell, Lauren-Eggert Crowe, and Antonia Crane. There will be another Live Write contest, so bring your A-Game. 4 p.m. at 826LA in Echo Park.

The New Short Fiction Series presents King of Kings by Pushcart Prize-nominee C. Gregory Thompson. The performance stars Sally Shore, with guest cast Alex DiDio, Rob Elk, and LeVar Michael. 7 p.m. at The Federal Bar. Tickets are $12/$15 here, or $20 at the door.
