Robert Mailer Anderson:The Last Book I Loved, 2666

images-3The last book I loved was Roberto Bolano’s 2666. His powers as a narrator are staggering. His abilities to both deconstruct the novel, while also somehow meeting the brutality and humor of his subject and characters head on is amazing and tremendously inspiring for me, renewing the argument that the novel is the best art form to replicate the human experience in its totality. Not to mention that if anyone wants to know the true terror of the 21st Century, he need only read “The Part About The Crimes.” It is clearly the work of a genius, but one with a huge, sensual heart that pumps blood in equal parts joy and sorrow.
