MONDAY 8/08: Do you miss Leslie Nielsen’s humor as much as I do? If so, go see Airplane! (1980) tonight at Bryant Park’s Summer Film Festival. Lawn opens at 5 p.m. for blankets. Film begins between 8 and 9 p.m. Free.

TUESDAY 8/09: Journalist Lev Grossman’s new novel, The Magician King, is being celebrated at a book party at WORD Brooklyn. Trivia contest with prizes. 7 p.m. Free.

The Moth StorySLAM’s theme for tonight is business. 10 stories, 3 teams of judges, and one winner. Housing Works Bookstore Café. 7 p.m. $8 at the door.

WEDNESDAY 8/10: The Center for Book Arts presents its annual summer reading, TEXTFORM, featuring Andrew Rahal, Anwyn Crawford, E. J. McAdams, Camille Ikalina-Robles, and Stefanie Simons. Hosted by Jen Bervin and Mariette Lamson. 6:30 p.m. $10 Suggested Donation, $5 for CBA members.

THURSDAY 8/11: McNally Jackson presents a reading by two authors whose recent books deal with psychological issues: Your Voice in My Head, a memoir by Emma Forrest, and The Psychopath Test, by Jon Ronson. 7 p.m. Free.

FRIDAY 8/12: Radio Happy Hour presents The Final Episode of its live variety show with radio comedy/drama and special guests. Tonights guests are Twin Sister, Mike Doughty, Matt Pond PA, Franz Nicolay, Jenny Slate, Jessi Klein, Arden Myrin, Murray Hill, Max Silvestri, Gabe Liedman, Jared Logan, John & Molly Knefel, Arthur Phillips, US Air Guitar Champion William Ocean, and more. Le Poisson Rouge. 7:30 p.m. $10 in advance, $15 on the day of the show.

SATURDAY 8/13: Spend your Saturday night tapping into your inner geek at Geek Down, featuring young artists teaming up to display the latest in technology and the arts, featuring interactive art, video, and music. 92YTribeca. Free opening night reception at 8 p.m. Geek Down show at 9 p.m. $10

SUNDAY 8/14: Tonight’s InDigest’s 1207 Reading Series will feature Matt Bell, Michael Czyzniejewski, and Robert Lopez. The Gallery at Le Poisson Rouge. 7 p.m. Free.
