When I was younger, through the grace of a small business loan, my father started his own grocery store on the East Side of Waterloo. As I grew up, I eventually learned what the West and East sides of town meant.

Writing Program Administration, Teaching English in the Two-Year College, College English, and other academic journals. He is currently working on a first-year writing textbook with a co-author, and this piece is his first serious foray into creative nonfiction.
