TUESDAY 6/26: Also at McNally Jackson, Glen Duncan discusses his most recent novel, Talulla Rising, with Megan Abbot (The End of Everything). Perhaps she’ll ask him about that Colson Whitehead book review? 7pm, free.
WEDNESDAY 6/27: Jason Diamond interviews Rich Cohen (The Fish That Ate the Whale) at Community Bookstore in Park Slope. 7pm, free.
The Coffin Factory launches their third issue at Housing Works Bookstore Café, featuring readings by Chinelo Okapranta, Sam Allingham, Ali Hosseini, Lara Vapnyar, and Justin Taylor. 7pm, free.
THURSDAY 6/28: Powerhouse Arena hosts a launch party for The McSweeney’s Book of Politics and Musicals. Contributors Henry Alford, Ben Greenman, Mike Lacher, Christopher Monks, Pete Reynolds, Sarah Rosenshine, Alina Simone, and Teddy Wayne will perform and there will be drinks. 7pm, free.
The Asian American Writers’ Workshop is launching three magazines with a party at Projective Space. Tao Lin will Powerpoint, Ishle Park will read poetry, and Christina Xu and Rekha Malhotra will speak. 7pm, free but see the event page to RSVP and get a ticket.
FRIDAY 6/29: Choose between two mystery readings (“mystery” like the Dum Dum flavor, not “mystery” like the fiction genre): The Brooklyn Writers Space Reading Series is at BookCourt at 7pm, with host Scott Adkins and readers TBA. In Manhattan at 7pm, KGB Bar hosts the Paragraph reading, also with readers TBA.
SATURDAY 6/30: Bingo? Bingo. Le Bingo at Le Poisson Rouge, 7pm doors, free admission, $2 bingo cards.
SUNDAY 7/1: BAM screens the oldest surviving animated feature film, an Arabian Nights-inspired story, The Adventures of Prince Achmed. Erik Friedlander, Matthew Nolan, and Cameron Doyle perform an original score. 6pm, $15 general admission.
