Monday 11/5: Quiet Lightning is a monthly curated magazine featuring blind submissions by writers throughout the Bay Area. Tonight’s readings come from the November issue, and include work by Caroline Goodwin, Stacy Carlson, Candy Shue, Ratty St. John, Kyle Metzner, José Luis Gutiérrez, and more. $5, 7:30pm. Viracocha.
Tuesday 11/6: Before the election’s called, visit one of a dozen SF museums offering free first Tuesday entries. Celebrate–we hope–with drink specials and watch parties around town.
Wednesday 11/7: Join Poetry Night at the 10th annual Altered Barbie Art Show featuring Jennifer Hasegawa & David Pang of TeaRoots. Free, 7pm.
Thursday 11/8: The Contemporary Jewish Museum hosts Literary Death Match, this month spotlighting an “all-Jew review” with four writers reading their own work for seven minutes or less . Featuring the work and reading of Randall Babtkis, Zarina Zabrinksy, Suzanne Kleid and Jason Turbow. $10, 7pm.
Friday 11/9: Literary Clown Foolery hosts a NaNoWriMo themed show, featuring writers and critics wrapping up the next great American novel in under 90 minutes. 8pm, $10. The Booksmith.
Saturday 11/10: The SF Public Library hosts all day $1 book sales in the Mission. All proceeds benefit Friends of the SFPL.
