Thursday 8/29: James Beard Award-winning chef Andy Ricker speaks about his new book Pok Pok Noodles: Recipes from Thailand and Beyond. He will be joined in conversation by Gregory Gourdet, Director of Culinary Operations at Departure. Powell’s City of Books, 7:30 p.m., free.

Portland author Bryan Denson reads from his young adult true-crime novel The Unabomber: Agent Kathy Puckett and the Hunt for a Serial Bomber. Annie Bloom’s Books, 7 p.m., free.

Friday 8/30: Powell’s hosts this month’s Young Adult Book Club, who will be discussing Renee Ahdieh’s The Wrath and the Dawn. Snacks will be provided! Powell’s City of Books, 7 p.m., free.

Saturday 8/31: NovaPDX presents Wordlights Saturday Poetry Evenings, hosted by Igor Brezhnev and featuring readings by Christopher Luna and Toni Lumbrazo Luna. There will also be a short-set poetry open mic. Rocking Frog Cafe, 5:30 p.m., free.

Wednesday 9/4: One Page Wednesday, hosted by Literary Arts and Natalie Serber, is an opportunity for writers to share or listen to one page of work in progress by local Portland writers. Come with a printed page of work to share, or just listen and be inspired. Literary Arts, 7 p.m., free.
