Thursday 1/2: Head to Win Win Coffee Bar for Breedlove Jubilee, an open mic poetry event hosted by Christopher KP Brown. 7 p.m. at Win Win Coffee Bar. 

Friday 1/3: Bagshot Row Irregulars of Philadelphia will host a discussion of the life of J. R. R. Tolkien in honor of his birthday. 7 p.m. at Black Sheep Pub & Restaurant.

Bring your best to the January edition of Community Drafts, an open mic for artists of all genres. Hosted by Christina Rosso-Schneider. Suggested donation of $5. Sign-ups at 7:30 p.m., performances at 8 p.m. at A Novel Idea on Passyunk.

The Philly Pigeon will host a Women, Trans, and Non-Binary Poetry Slam featuring writer, educator, and performer Raych Jackson. Organized by Jacob Winterstein, Kai Davis, and Jasmine Combs. 8:30 p.m. at The Rotunda.

Saturday 1/4: Big Blue Marble Bookstore will host a reading and birthday celebration featuring Linda Backiel. 6 p.m. at Big Blue Marble Bookstore. 

Monday 1/6: Uncle Bobbie’s Coffee & Books will present a reading by Kiley Reid from her debut novel Such a Fun Age. 7 p.m. at Uncle Bobbie’s Coffee & Books.
