Chivas Sandage is the author of Hidden Drive, a finalist for the 2012 ForeWord Book of the Year Awards in poetry. She is at work on a narrative nonfiction book with and for Kristene Chapa, the survivor of a 2012 rape and double shooting in South Texas, a tragedy that took the life of her girlfriend, Mollie Olgin. Sandage examines this crime as a microcosm of violence against women, girls, and LGBT people, set against changing attitudes about gender identity and sexual orientation in the contemporary American South. On Twitter, she’s @ChivasSandage.
