Chivas Sandage is the author of Hidden Drive, a finalist for the 2012 ForeWord Book of the Year Awards in poetry. She is at work on a narrative nonfiction book with and for Kristene Chapa, the survivor of a 2012 rape and double shooting in South Texas, a tragedy that took the life of her girlfriend, Mollie Olgin. Sandage examines this crime as a microcosm of violence against women, girls, and LGBT people, set against changing attitudes about gender identity and sexual orientation in the contemporary American South. The Rumpus publishes original fiction, poetry, literary humor writing, comics, essays, book reviews, and interviews with authors and artists of all kinds.
