Kary Wayson is the author of three poetry books—Dog & Me (LitRag Press, 2004), American Husband (Ohio State University Press, 2009), and Via Maria Materi (Burnside Review Press, forthcoming in 2019). Her poems have appeared in Crazyhorse, The Nation, Narrative, FIELD, and others, including the Best American Poetry and Pushcart Prize anthologies. A 2012 Stranger Genius Award nominee, Kary was writer-in-residence at Hugo House from 2013-2015. She lives and works as a freelance editor in Seattle, WA.

The Rumpus publishes original fiction, poetry, literary humor writing, comics, essays, book reviews, and interviews with authors and artists of all kinds. Our mostly volunteer-run magazine strives to be a platform for risk-taking voices and writing that might not find a home elsewhere. We lift up new voices alongside those of more established writers our readers may already know and love. We want to bring new perspectives into the conversation that will make us all look deeper.
