Kinsale Drake

Kinsale Drake (Diné) is a winner of the National Poetry Series for her debut poetry collection The Sky Was Once a Dark Blanket (University of Georgia Press, 2024), also named a Southwest Book of the Year and winner of the Reading the West Award for Poetry. A two-time winner of the Academy of American Poets University Prize, former National Student Poet, and winner of the Joy Harjo Poetry Prize from Cutthroat, her work has appeared in Poetry, Poets.org, The Atlantic, Best New Poets, Black Warrior Review, and elsewhere. She earned her BAs from Yale University and currently lives and teaches in Nashville, TN as a graduate fellow in the MFA Program at Vanderbilt University.
