Lesley Jenike's work has appeared in The Kenyon Review, The Bennington Review, The Iowa Review, Image, West Branch, and listed as "notable" in 2003's Best American Essays. Her first collection of essays, City of Toys, will be published in the 21st Century Essays Series from The Ohio State Press in 2025. She teaches writing and literature at the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio where she lives with her husband and two children.

The Rumpus publishes original fiction, poetry, literary humor writing, comics, essays, book reviews, and interviews with authors and artists of all kinds. Our mostly volunteer-run magazine strives to be a platform for risk-taking voices and writing that might not find a home elsewhere. We lift up new voices alongside those of more established writers our readers may already know and love. We want to bring new perspectives into the conversation that will make us all look deeper.
