Bernal Heights Film Crawl

If you live in San Francisco, you might want to check out the Film Crawl on Cortland this Friday night. Yes, the website is a little cheesy, but the offerings look really cool. The idea behind it is that five local businesses will show a program of short films by local filmmakers (and we have a lot of them!), with one screening at 7:30 and another at 8:30. You switch venues at the intermission. It’s part of the larger Bernal Heights Outdoor Cinema event that runs from September 2nd through the 5th.

The Rumpus.net is an online magazine focused on culture, as opposed to "pop culture." Pop culture can be hard to define and the term means different things to different people. Basically, we're not opposed to things that are popular, but we have no interest in "art" created by marketing executives. The Rumpus is not worried about being the first to break the news. We care about good writing, and we'll publish essays just because the writing is good. And we won't run a well crafted meditation alongside an actor's opinion of the war in Iraq. (more)
