If I were Jonathan Franzen I would find this annoying, since I (Jonathan Franzen) have already stated publicly that I (Jonathan Franzen) agree that male fiction writers are taken more seriously than female and that I did not consider the Picoult and Weiner’s criticisms to be ad hominem.
