Defiance: A Literary Benefit to Rebuild Red Hook

By

Red Hook, Brooklyn has suffered the worst of Sandy. Many homes are still without gas, water or power. It’s quite apocalyptic out there, and many have been displaced and are still waiting for FEMA aid.

Please come out to Defiance: A Literary Benefit. The event will take place at Littlefield, a performance space in Gowanus, and feature musicians Steve Earle and Stew; novelists Joseph O’Neill, Sam Lipsyte, and Rivka Galchen; nonfiction luminaries Phillip Lopate, Chuck Klosterman, Philip Gourevitch, Meghan O’Rourke, Deborah Baker, and Robert Sullivan.

All proceeds will be given to Red Hook Initiative, which provides residents with emergency clothing and food, and Restore Red Hook, a group that is helping to restore Red Hook’s small businesses.
