In Toronto, The Monkey’s Paw, like many used-book stores, was unsure what to do with that cart of discounted books that nobody seemed to want.

So proprietor Stephen Fowler came up with the “Biblio-Mat,” a retro contraption where customers insert a coin and out dispenses an “old and unusual” book.
