Divorce comes to Sesame Street

Tumblr Storyboard and TIME showcase the process of bringing touchy subjects to Sesame Street. The program is well prepared for the task. In fact, “Sesame Street was the first show to use empirical research as part of its programming.” As a show that has handled such heavy hitters as race, adoption, incarceration, and death, it would be foolish not to mention divorce.

We may not want to admit how much kids learn from watching television, but if they are going to be learning, why not something as important as how to handle life?
