New Radical Youth Library Arrives In The Bronx

“The more you read, the iller you’ll be as an emcee…”

In the Bronx, the Rebel Diaz Arts Collective has turned a former candy factory into the Richie Perez Radical Library for Youth. The objective of the library is to promote literacy through radical and political literature that isn’t usually taught in typical academic settings.

So far they have accumulated around 300 books and counting, most of which are authored by writers of color and feature stories and history on immigrant politics, Latino and black history, and hip hop.
