I’m sure that if I ever make it to Rome, I’ll go see this, even though I can see something similar every morning when the neighborhood stray/feral cat population (and there is a difference) shows up on my deck for chow time. Well, almost the same.
In Rome the cats have an ancient temple all to themselves. The site is known as Torre Argentina and was excavated under Mussolini’s re-building efforts in 1929, revealing extensive multi level temple grounds about 20 feet below modern street level.
It’s cool enough to go see ancient temple ruins, but to see them with cats sunbathing everywhere, like they own the place, must really be a sight.
