Greed Foiled in San Francisco

Score one for the good guys. A private company claiming it owned Muni arrival prediction data in San Francisco has been foiled, with the SFMTA revising their contracts so it’s clear that no one owns their info.

This allows helpful iPhone apps for users taking public transportation to be reinstated, but much more importantly stops the company, NBIS, from profiting off data that belongs to public.  Learn more about the story here.
