I want to thank Jonathan Zawada for sharing his work on A Journey Round My Skull. I discovered Zawada’s “Big Mouth” project through the excellent visual blog Synaptic Stimuli.

An explanation of Big Mouth:

The Big Mouth Project by the Victoria WorkCover Authority aims to highlight the problem of injury in the workplace amongst the most affected age group, 15-24 year old males. I was invited by Lifelounge to produce something that would be noticed by this audience. I designed a series of street posters, a tshirt, sticker packs as well as this zine in which I produced an abstracted illustrated alphabet that stated the key message of the project – “Speak Up. Be Work Safe.”

Artist bio: Jonathan Zawada is a Sydney based mixed media artist who has produced work for clients such as Modular Records, The Presets, Ksubi, General Pants, Universal Music, and BMW. These commissions have included website design, illustration, fabric prints, animation, and book and magazine art direction. Jonathan recently co-founded Tru$t Fun! — a new project which is basically a collaboration allowing Jonathan and his creative partners to make stuff without the usual constraints of a commercial client. As an artist, Jonathan is renowned for constantly evolving and pushing his style in new directions, ensuring no two jobs ever look alike. In 2005 Jonathan exhibited his first solo show ‘Semantic Webs’ at Monster Children Gallery.
