Monday 2/8: Brace yourself — it’s time for the February Monthly Rumpus! This time around, catch readings from Tony Dushane, Robin Ekiss, Ethan Watters, Kevin Sampsell, and Daniel Handler, a performance by DJ Real, music by The Yellow Dress, and a spectacular hoopdance by Richard Porter. Tuesday 2/9: Potrero gallery, Project1 has come along way in their first year of operation. Stop by at 6pm to hear artists Liz Miller and René Garcia Jr. speak about their show, Everything Is Beautiful, a show exploring the means by which we pursue gratification. 251 Rhode Island St.
Wednesday 2/10: Celebrate 20 years of expanding electronic frontiers at EFF’s birthday bash. Mythbusters’ Adam Savage will host the festivities at DNA Lounge with DJs Adrian and the Mysterious D spinning Bootie favorites. Plus, you can hobnob with the folks that made the Electronic Frontier Foundation what it is today. All ages, tickets $30, 8pm @ 375 11th Street.
Thursday 2/11: Get out of the city and take advantage of all that UC Berkeley has to offer. See Dave Eggers read at Morrisson Library’s Story Hour from 5-6 and then head over to Sibley Auditorium in the Bechtel Engineering Center for a panel discussion with Eggers, Jesse Nathan, an Oscar Villalon at 8pm. Eggers, Nathan, and Villalon will be discussing the McSweeneys’ various publishing endeavors as well as the San Francisco Panorama experiment and what it means for the future of newspapers. Both events are free to the public.
Friday 2/12: Shomer Shabbos! Spend yours at Cell Space for IndieFest’s annual Big Lebowski Party. $5 and a costume gets you in for an evening of White Russians, mini bowling, and nihilists. 21+, 9pm @ 2050 Bryant Street.
Saturday 2/13: What happens when you mix romance, artificial insemination, breast cancer, sex education, performance art weddings and an erotic cake contest?
