Tuesday 3/30: Discover new writers at the University of San Francisco’s Emerging Writers Festival. CJ Evans, James Hannaham, Ryan Boudinot, Jennifer L. Thursday 4/1: James Hannaham (Author of God Says No) and Andrew Sean Greer (Author of The Story of a Marriage, and The Confessions of Max Tivoli) take over the Mission’s Amnesia for en evening of readings. 21+, 7pm @ 853 Valencia Street.
Friday 4/2: Get your nerd on at San Francisco’s WonderCon (put on annually by the good folks of ComiCon). Get advanced looks at upcoming books, movies, and TV shows, attend speakings, readings, and signings, and peruse acres and acres of comic paraphernalia. Basically, it’s a comic book/fantasy/sci-fi nerd’s wet dream, and it’s open to the public. Oh, and did I mention the booth babes? Yeah, booth babes. 4/2-4/4, tickets $10-40, noon-7pm @ Moscone Center South, 747 Howard Street.
Saturday 4/3: Each year, hundreds of teen poets fight for six spots on the Bay Area team that will travel to Los Angeles to compete in Brave New Voices. See the top 18 of these 500+ poets at the Warfield for the Youth Speaks Teen Poetry Slam Finals. Buy tickets in advance, as the event is sure to sell out. 7-10pm @ 982 Market.
Sunday 4/4: Some folks celebrate Easter at mass, others at brunch, and still others eating candy for breakfast out of hollow eggs found on the ground. Spend yours at Castro’s infamous Eros for K’vetch, one of the city’s longest running queer open mics.
