Monday 5/17: After everything you learned about wood block printing at YBCA’s screening of Typeface last Saturday, you want to see some Northern Dutch wood block prints in the flesh, do you not? The San Francisco Center for the Book has got you covered with a FREE lecture and showing by Wally Jansen tonight from 6-8pm. 300 De Haro Street.

Wednesday 5/19: Geek out with Boing Boing founder and young adult novelist Cory Doctorow at 111 Minna. The Electronic Frontier Foundation presents For The Win, a reading by Doctorow from his newest novel, which will, of course, be available on the internet under Creative Commons licenses. Tickets $25 advance/$30 at the door, 21+, 7:30pm @ 111 Minna.
Thursday 5/20: A gentleman caller, a ménage à troi, a tell-all memoir, and all the scandal you can handle — The Booksmith presents an evening with Chuck Palahniuk at the Swedish American Music Hall. $36 gets you a ticket to the hottest show in town and a signed copy of Palahniuk’s latest novel, Tell-All. Doors at 6pm, show at 7pm @ 2170 Market Street.
Friday 5/21: Enter a world where boredom leads to chaos, telepathic toys reunite, evil cell phones wreak havoc, freedom grows in a garden, diamonds are not a girl’s best friend, Mother Nature gets revenge, and love is in the eye of the holder. Get to the De Young Museum’s Koret Auditorium for Super Hero Moves + Recycled Grooves, Short Plays by Short People, seven live performances of plays written by fifth graders at Starr King Elementary inspired by the museum’s art and set to live beats. Free @ 11am.
Saturday 5/22: Get yourself to The Makeout Room for RADAR Productions’ Queer Writers Retreat fundraiser. Catch readings and performances by Annie Sprinkle & Beth Stephens, Beth Lisick & Tara Jepsen, Cheryl Dunye & Sam Green, infamous Trannyshack host, Heklina, Jill Sobule, Hunx & His Punkettes, Vis A Vis, and an art auction, all hosted by Michelle Tea and Ali Liebegott. Sunday 5/23: Sunday Funday! Head down to Bayview for Sunday Streets, the international initiative that promotes community outreach, physical activity, not driving, and general awesomeness in neighborhoods around the city. Sunday Streets SF takes over a different neighborhood every few weeks with street fairs that are free to the public, but they rely on donations of money and time, so consider volunteering for a Sunday Streets in your neighborhood! 10am-5pm all along Third Street.
