Tuesday 5/25: Put on your glad rags, grab a dame, dip the bill, and hop on over to the Roxie for a film noir double feature as a part of the I Still Wake up Dreaming! rare Poverty Row B-Noir film festival. Wednesday 5/26: Combat your humpday blues at the San Francisco Zen Center’s poetry reading with Naomi Shihab Nye and Abbot Ryushin Paul Haller. The reading is a part of the SFZC’s series of monthly readings and artist lectures. 730pm @ 300 Page Street.
Thursday 5/27: Prep yourself for Pride at the release party for Monica Nolan’s latest book, Bobby Blanchard, Lesbian Gym Teacher at El Rio. Show up early to score some barbecue on the patio, followed by live music and a fabulous gym teacher costume contest. Bobbie Blanchard is the second novel in Nolan’s Career-Girl series (the first being Lois Lenz, Lesbian Secretary). She is also co-author of The Big Book of Lesbian Horse Stories. Friday 5/28: See an indescribably surreal performance by Dan Carbone at the Dark Room. Bay Area absurdist writer/ performer Dan Carbone (whom the SF Weekly described as “kind of the Daniel Johnston of performance art”) returns to the Dark Room for an encore performance of new works. Tickets $10, 10pm @ 2263 Mission Street.
Saturday 5/29: Walk the Wiggle! Learn about the history of San Francisco’s infamous hill-free bike route at ThinkWalk’s free walking tour of the Wiggle. Beginning at the Oasis Cafe on McAllister at Divisadero, this ThinkWalk is a two hour trek that ends at the Bike Mural on Dubooce and Church. RSVP online, 1-3pm @ 901 Divisadero Street.
Sunday 5/30: San Francisco’s Center for Sex and Culture reminds you to love yourself (and watch others love themselves) at the 2010 Masturbate-a-thon.
