If you’re a member of The Rumpus Book Club then you know about Pennyguns, the weapon of choice for Gurion ben-Judah Maccabee, main character in Adam Levin’s The Instructions. In this video managing editor Isaac Fitzgerald fires off a few rounds and manages, somehow, not to hurt himself.

If Krefman (the gentleman filming) hadn’t stopped me I would’ve shot that thing all night. Highly recommend making a Penny Gun for yourself. “Instructions” on how, here: https://therumpus.net/2010/09/the-instructions-by-adam-levin/
Is it safe?
Now you need to get some meat and a couple nibs and see how much damage you can bring to flesh.
Levin should sign pennyguns (it’s one word, btw) at book signings.
It’s not not safe. John, thanks! I corrected my misspelling.
My brother the OCD lawyer would totally spaz out over your not using eye protection and conspicuous absence of large- font legal liability disclaimers, but I think it looks fun. I have a big jar of pennies; want me to send it in as a donation?
PS: good on ya for getting books to the bereft. You’re a mensch, Issac (I’m almost fluent in Yiddish now!!!)(j/k). =)
I think I’m in love….men with guns. Freudian.
I was wondering what one of those would look like in action. It looks like it works pretty good!
