Instead of writing poetry or posts for The Rumpus, I was checking Facebook, e-mail, some message boards I belong to, and then refreshing Facebook again, and again. Perhaps if I downloaded this SelfControl app, I’d be a more productive person: SelfControl will block Facebook, Twitter, e-mail, and other websites for a prearranged time. For instance you could set it for 90 minutes, allowing you to continue to do internet research, writing, and any other work you’re supposed to be doing instead of checking your newsfeed. Though I’m pretty sure I’d lie about all the websites I frequent and allow myself one guilty pleasure while working. I just can’t help myself. (via GalleyCat)
